First of all, it is very hard, understood in the sense that the wood is dense. It cannot therefore float, and this also means that it does not absorb liquid. You cannot give it oil, and it will not absorb water either. This means that the appearance lasts a very long time compared to softer wood types. Desert ironwood is also a wood type that grows very slowly, which makes the knots in the wood particularly beautiful.
