Shun Kagerou is KAI's newest high-end series, awarded the Red Dot Award 2025. Kagerou — the Japanese word for the heat haze that shimmers above flames — is reflected in the blade's pattern: the upper half is mirror-polished, while 71 layers of Damascus steel ripple along the edge like a veil of heat.

The 100mm paring knife is the smallest and most precise knife in the series. It is ideal for peeling, trimming and detailed work held in the hand, where control and sharpness are paramount. Vask kniven i hånden med mildt opvaskemiddel og tør den straks af. Brug aldrig opvaskemaskine. Undgå at skære i hårde emner som ben, brusk og frosne fødevarer. Opbevar kniven i en knivblok, på en magnetliste eller i en skede for at beskytte klingen.

Maintenance & use

Never cut into bones or frozen items as this may damage the egg. Always wash the knife by hand and dry it thoroughly immediately.

Please note that both the blade and handle can be seriously damaged and broken if the knife is washed in a dishwasher – this also applies to stainless steel and wooden handles.
