Description & specifications
Sankurafuto (Suncraft in English) from Seki in Japan makes exceptionally luxurious knives.
We found these knives when we visited the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt. From the moment we first saw them, we were completely smitten and had to know more.
The knives are not only beautiful, they are also an absolute delight to work with.
They are made up of three layers - two soft outer layers and a hard core steel - SG2.
SG2 is an incredibly popular and widespread steel alloy in the knife world. It is made as a powder steel, which means that all the different components of the steel are passed through an atomizer. This turns the metals into powder, which is then forged together again.
This gives a better and denser structure in the steel, so it can be sharpened more finely and holds its edge better.

Maintenance & use
Never cut into bones or frozen items as this may damage the egg. Always wash the knife by hand and dry it thoroughly immediately.
Please note that both the blade and handle can be seriously damaged and broken if the knife is washed in a dishwasher – this also applies to stainless steel and wooden handles.
