Description & specifications

Masamoto Sohonten is an incredibly highly respected brand, with over 150 years of experience. Minosuke Matsuzawa - the 1st generation blacksmith under Masamoto, went to Osaka at 17 years old to become an apprentice. 5 generations later, it's clear that Matsuzawa-san's vision has been carried on, and it's safe to say that Masamoto Sohonten has achieved legendary status in Japanese knives.

The KS-Series is what they are probably most known for. Superb grind makes the knives extremely thin behind the edge, giving them exceptional cutting ability, and the Fit & Finish is outstanding.

The knives are made of two layers of Shirogami (White Steel) 2 in the core and soft iron, so they take a very quick edge that can become very biting.

This knife is a Usuba, which is a traditional Japanese vegetable knife sharpened only on the right side.

The knife comes with a saya.
